Chorus Product Management

At Chorus, the processes and tools to take a product from concept to market, and subsequent lifecycle management, were broken and lacked appropriate governance. The company selected Practiv to deliver an end-to-end solution based on Tribold’s Enterprise Product Management product.

Chorus operates a complex set of products in a heavily regulated and fast-moving industry. Once it was clear that the business needed a single, purpose built tool to manage the product portfolio, Spark Business undertook a competitive product selection process to deliver a solution.

“We quickly concluded that the appropriate checks and balances were not in place when it came to our product lifecycle management. Products were simply escaping to market,” said Andy Sowden, Spark Business' Business Application Manager.

The project took only 18 months from inception to delivery, and was delivered within budget and close to planned schedule. Nearly 300 people were trained during the project.

Thirty products are now fully defined and modelled in Tribold with all new products now coming through the platform.

Chorus is New Zealand’s largest provider of telco infrastructure, owning most of its telephone infrastructure.

Chorus' product portfolio was rationalised and component reuse is fully enabled contributing to faster product delivery. Downstream systems now use a single, central product catalog for their product information requirements.
